Financial Accountability Talk: Your Time is Valuable

This article will hopefully be a word of encouragement to small business owners and future business owners.  When most of us first started our businesses, we priced our services or products based on what we thought people (usually our family and friends) would pay and not on the true value of what we had to offer.  We would attempt to cater to those that still did not purchase our services or our products.  Now, many years later, we are still not where we should be, even if we have increased our prices.  Therefore, we are not flourishing as we should.

There is value in what you do.  If you have studied your craft and you are blessed in your craft, then there is value in what you have to offer.  What you provide is not for everyone, but it is for someone.  Stop expecting everyone to purchase your service or product.  God has ordained the right people to be your clients, but you have not positioned yourself to be able to serve them.  It is time for you to position yourself as God has instructed so that you may receive the blessings that God has for you.  The right people will pay the value for the service or product that you offer.

In transparency, I must admit that this is still a struggle for me.  It is not easy to raise your prices or recognize your value.  What I have begun to do is surround myself with those that I trust to help me restructure my pricing and help me accept that what I provide is valuable.  We don’t always see ourselves in the “greatness” that God sees us. However, He will surround us with those that see what God wants us to see in ourselves and they will speak life into us.  We just have to be willing to listen.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all the things that you need, and desire will be provided to you.  Seeking God’s will is the key to your success.  When things seem slow or nonproductive, continue following the instructions of God and one day your business will flourish beyond measure.

How you conduct your business does not have to look like everyone else, it has to look like you.  Your business should represent who you are at your core.  It has to be a representation of your style, personality and character.  It has to be built on integrity and quality.  Serve in excellence.  You will make mistakes; you may even have some failures while operating in excellence but that doesn’t mean you have to stay there.  Get up, reevaluate and refocus yourself so that you can get back to what you are purposed for.  There are people out there waiting on you that are willing to pay for your time, talent, and knowledge.  This is no time to continue following the crowd. This is the time to determine the course you are to take and stick to it.

Your time is now! It does not matter how long you have been in business; it only matters what you decide to do today.
